Apple Watch Ultra 4 raises the battery ceiling for Apple’s rugged smartwatch, with up to 50 hours of everyday use and up to 45 hours of outdoor tracking in Max Extended Workout mode. Apple announced the watch on September 9, and MacRumors detailed the battery and workout figures after the launch.

Apple says the new S11 chip and a larger battery help the Ultra 4 run for more than two days in normal use. Low Power Mode extends the rating to up to 84 hours. These are Apple estimates, so actual endurance will vary with display settings, notifications, cellular use and workout tracking.
For outdoor workouts, Extended Workout mode supports up to 25 hours with full GPS and heart-rate readings. Max Extended Workout mode raises the rating to 45 hours while continuing to record GPS readings every second. That makes the longer mode relevant to multi-day training and endurance events.
Charging is faster as well. Apple says 15 minutes on the charger can add up to 18 hours of battery life. The company lists the watch at $799 in the United States, with preorders beginning September 9 and availability starting September 18.
The Ultra 4 also brings a redesigned Health Sensing System, higher-frequency heart-rate and HRV readings, and a readiness score. Those health features are separate from the battery claim, but they explain why Apple is presenting the watch as a training and recovery tool rather than only a larger watch.
Apple’s official announcement says the watch comes in natural and black titanium. MacRumors reported the two-day rating and workout modes alongside the other hardware changes. Neither source presents the estimates as a guarantee for every user or every type of activity.
The practical question will be how much of the rated endurance remains when GPS, cellular connectivity and continuous sensing are active together. Retail availability on September 18 will give reviewers the opportunity to test that combination outside Apple’s controlled estimates.
