The Awarapan movie box office collection for Awarapan 2 has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India, according to the latest trade figures reported on Aug. 20.
Aaj English reported that the Emraan Hashmi film earned Rs 6.75 crore on its sixth day, Wednesday, its lowest single-day collection in the run covered by that report. The outlet put the domestic gross at Rs 128.29 crore and the India net collection at Rs 107.50 crore.
The same report said the film’s worldwide gross had reached Rs 153.59 crore. It also reported overall theatre occupancy of 16.72% on Day 6, citing figures attributed to Indian Express. The occupancy breakdown was 9.54% in morning shows, 16.62% in the afternoon, 16.92% in the evening and 21.77% at night.
Times of India reported that Awarapan 2 opened on Aug. 14 with an early estimate of Rs 21 crore net in India. The report placed the opening-day India gross at about Rs 25.20 crore, overseas earnings at about Rs 2 crore and the worldwide opening-day gross at about Rs 27.20 crore.
Cinema Express reported that the film’s worldwide gross reached Rs 72.90 crore after two days, including Rs 6 crore from overseas markets at that stage. These figures are trade estimates and can change as final collections are reported.
Awarapan 2 is directed by Nitin Kakkar and stars Hashmi as Shivam Pandit, with Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky also in the cast, according to Times of India. The film was released nearly two decades after the 2007 original.
The reported milestone refers to the India net figure rather than the domestic gross or worldwide total. The figures cited by the outlets are not presented as an audited producer statement, so later updates may revise the collection totals.
