BMW’s iX3 will go on sale in the U.S. on September 25, 2026, as a model-year 2027 vehicle. Pricing starts at $61,500. The electric SUV brings BMW’s 800-volt charging architecture and Panoramic Vision technology to American buyers.
The iX3 joins the larger iX sedan in BMW’s U.S. EV lineup. It’s a mid-size coupe SUV designed to compete with Tesla Model Y and the new Rivian R2. BMW’s luxury positioning and charging tech are differentiators.
800-Volt Fast Charging
The iX3 can add 200 miles of range in 20 minutes on 800-volt DC charging. This is at parity with Tesla Supercharger networks. Fast charging matters for long-range road trips, and it’s a major EV buying consideration for premium buyers.
BMW’s Panoramic Vision creates a fully digital cockpit—head-up display plus a curved screen spanning the dashboard. Voice control and gesture recognition handle most functions without touchscreens.
Market Timing
BMW’s September launch slots between now and the holiday shopping season. Tesla is facing increased competition as traditional automakers scale EV production. The $61,500 price is aggressive for a BMW but below the original iX, signaling determination to capture market share.
BMW is betting that charging speed, luxury features, and proven reliability matter more than Elon Musk’s brand halo.
