Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are now available on PlayStation 5 and PS4, releasing today at $39.99 each. The remastered ports mark the first time these franchises have officially appeared on Sony’s console ecosystem.

The two classic titles arrive as standalone purchases on the PlayStation Store. Activision has bundled each game with all original DLC map packs, weapons, and seasonal content from the original releases. Together, they offer hours of campaign missions and multiplayer mayhem for fans who missed them the first time or want to revisit the series.
What’s Included in Each Title
Black Ops delivers the original 2010 campaign following CIA operative Alex Mason through Cold War espionage. The multiplayer suite includes 14 maps at launch, iconic weapons like the AK-74u and MP5K, and signature scorestreaks such as the RC-XD.
Black Ops 2 expands the scope with a branching narrative set in 2025. The campaign shifts between past and future timelines, offering player choice in key story moments. Its multiplayer introduced map customization and the Black Market weapon system. All 16 DLC maps return alongside the Zombies mode, which remains a cult favorite for cooperative horror gameplay.
Crossplay and Community
Both titles support crossplay between PS5 and PS4, allowing players on older hardware to join the same matches. Activision has also implemented cross-progression, so your stats and unlocks carry over if you own the games on multiple platforms.
Sony has sweetened the deal for PlayStation Plus members. Subscribers receive a 50% discount on either title, bringing the price down to $19.99. The offer is available for 30 days after launch.
Technical Performance
The PS5 versions run at 4K resolution and 120 frames per second in multiplayer, a substantial upgrade from the original 2010 and 2012 releases. Load times have been slashed thanks to the PS5’s SSD. Frame rate holds steady even during hectic online matches with 12 players per side.
PS4 versions render at 1080p with 60fps, still a marked improvement over the last-gen console originals.
Activision has not yet announced a release date for these ports on Xbox platforms, though the company has historically ported older Call of Duty titles to Microsoft’s ecosystem as well.
FYI (keeping you in the loop)
Can I play campaign offline?
Yes. Both campaign modes and Zombies (in Black Ops 2) are fully playable offline against AI opponents. Multiplayer requires an online connection.
