Disney has confirmed theatrical release dates for two of its most anticipated animated sequels, Lilo and Stitch 2 and The Incredibles 3, adding both films to its official release calendar.

The announcements follow a strong box office performance from the 2025 live-action Lilo and Stitch remake, which became one of that year’s breakout hits and demonstrated clear audience appetite for Disney’s legacy animated properties. A sequel to the remake had been reported in development for several months before the dates were formally confirmed.
The Incredibles 3 is a sequel to Brad Bird’s 2018 Incredibles 2, which earned over $1.24 billion globally and remains one of Pixar’s highest-grossing films. The third film’s announcement confirms Pixar is returning to the Parr family after a multi-year gap, consistent with the studio’s pattern of revisiting successful franchises when the creative and commercial conditions align.
Disney did not confirm directors, cast members, or story details at the time of the date announcement. Both films are expected to be theatrical releases rather than Disney+ premieres, consistent with the studio’s recent strategy of reserving streaming for smaller titles while sending franchise sequels to cinemas.
Specific release windows have not been shared beyond placement on the theatrical calendar, suggesting both films are targeting 2027 or 2028 slots. Disney typically sets placeholder dates and adjusts as production develops, making this a signal of intent rather than a firm commitment.
The timing of these announcements is notable. Toy Story 5 opened June 20 to a record-breaking preview weekend, giving Disney and Pixar a strong commercial argument for continuing to invest in animated franchise sequels. Lilo and Stitch 2 and The Incredibles 3 now join a pipeline that already includes several other Disney Animation and Pixar titles in various stages of development.
