Disney gave fans their first look at Frozen 3 during the D23 Entertainment Showcase on Friday, with stars Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel taking the stage together in Anaheim. The studio confirmed the film will open in theaters on November 24, 2027.

The footage picks up right after Anna and Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, have married. Bell confirmed her character Anna is now wed to her “mountain man,” with sister Elsa still by her side as the family heads into a new chapter.

Shortly after the wedding celebration, Elsa notices unusual Northern Lights in the sky, a detail that sets the plot of the threequel in motion. The first-look material showed the sisters, along with Kristoff and Olaf, venturing into a new frozen land filled with icy butterflies, and introduced a dark, mysterious new character who has not yet been named.

Bell and Menzel performed a reworked rendition of “Frozen Heart,” the song that opened the original 2013 film, during the D23 panel. Josh Gad, who voices Olaf, previewed new music tied to a comedic storyline involving a character referred to only as “Samantha” for now.

No official trailer has been released yet. What Disney showed at D23 was first-look footage rather than a finished trailer, and any full-length clips circulating online since the panel are not authentic studio material.

Frozen 3 will be the second sequel to the 2013 original, which became one of Disney’s biggest animated hits and spawned a stage musical and a dedicated theme park land. The 2019 sequel, Frozen II, grossed well over a billion dollars worldwide, and Disney has treated the franchise as one of its most reliable box office draws heading into the new film’s 2027 release.

Details on the new villain and the rest of the supporting cast are expected to roll out over the coming months as Disney builds toward the film’s marketing campaign.
