Dolly Parton made a rare public appearance on Wednesday at the grand opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop near Cornersville, Tennessee, one month after canceling her Las Vegas residency.
Parton wore a pink-and-blue fringe outfit and stilettos, complete with a name tag reading “Dolly.” The travel center and restaurant opened off exit 22 on I-65, about an hour south of Nashville.
The appearance surprised fans. Parton had canceled her Vegas residency in May after postponing shows in September 2025. She cited health challenges that required more recovery time. The icon said her immune and digestive systems “got all out of whack” over the past couple of years.
Parton told reporters she was responding well to medications. “I need more time to get better and up to stage performance level,” she said in May. Wednesday‘s appearance suggests progress on that front.
The Tennessean Travel Stop represents Parton’s expansion into hospitality beyond music. The venue offers fuel, food, and merchandise. It marks another business venture from the 78-year-old entrepreneur.
Parton remains a cultural icon after seven decades in entertainment. Her Las Vegas residency postponement sparked concern among longtime fans. The travel stop opening offers reassurance that she continues working on recovery while remaining engaged with her various business interests.
