Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation at Summer Game Fest Live on June 5, 2026, as the third and final game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. The title is set to release in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store simultaneously.
The simultaneous multi-platform launch marks a significant change for the series. The first two entries — Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024 — both launched with timed PlayStation exclusivity before arriving on other platforms. Revelation will be available on Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 on day one, the first time the Remake series has done this.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi and voice actor Matt Mercer, who plays Vincent Valentine in the English version, presented an extended gameplay segment during the reveal. Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind will both be fully playable characters in Revelation for the first time in the Remake series. The Highwind airship serves as a central feature, giving players free access to an open world they can explore from the air and land on anywhere by parachute.
The Queen’s Blood card game, which appeared in Rebirth, returns with a new protagonist in Revelation. Game Informer published a preview following the reveal describing an expanded version of the minigame with new mechanics. The overall narrative is expected to bring Cloud Strife’s story to a close and follow the events set in motion at the end of Rebirth.
Square Enix has not confirmed a precise release window beyond spring 2027. Preorders have not opened. The announcement was one of the most anticipated reveals at Summer Game Fest this year, drawing significant online engagement in the hours after it aired. A full reveal trailer is available on the Square Enix channel alongside other major gaming announcements.
Revelation arrives during a strong period for single-player RPGs. The Nintendo Switch 2, which has already shipped nearly 20 million units, will receive the game at launch — a notable commercial move for Square Enix given the console’s momentum. More platform and pricing details are expected closer to a confirmed release date. The official game page is live at Square Enix’s website.
