Google Photos just released Video Remix on July 8, 2026, powered by Gemini Omni. The tool transforms ordinary videos in seconds using AI-generated effects.

You can apply cinematic relighting to brighten dark clips, swap backgrounds, or add artistic styles like watercolor, sketches, or oil painting. It’s built for speed — most remixes process in a few seconds.

Who Gets Access First

Video Remix started rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in the U.S., Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, and Turkey.

The feature lives in the “Create” tab in Google Photos. Free users don’t have access yet, but Google is working to expand availability.

What It Competes With

This is Google’s answer to OpenAI’s video tools and Adobe’s generative features. Gemini Omni, Google’s multimodal model, powers the behind-the-scenes processing. The feature positions Google Photos as more than a storage app — it’s now a creative workspace.
