Google expanded Fill with Gemini in Sheets on July 7, bringing the AI-powered data generation feature to 11 new languages. The feature, which lets users generate text, summarize information, and categorize data without writing formulas, is now available across Workspace and personal Google accounts.

The rollout marks Google’s push to embed AI deeper into everyday productivity tools. Instead of switching to a separate AI tool, users stay in Sheets and let Gemini handle repetitive data tasks.
What Fill with Gemini Does
Fill with Gemini eliminates the need for complex formulas. Tell it what you want—”generate product names for a cosmetics line” or “summarize customer feedback”—and it fills a column. Users can also use it to categorize data, analyze sentiment, or extract information from text.
The feature handles multiple data types: text, numerical patterns, and even lists. It’s designed for people who don’t know formulas but need to process data quickly.
New Language Support
As of July 7, Fill with Gemini supports Mandarin, Dutch, Malay, Hebrew, Polish, Turkish, Czech, Indonesian, Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian. This expands the tool’s reach beyond English-speaking markets. Users in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East can now use the feature in their native language.
The extended language support suggests Google is treating AI-powered data tools as core to Workspace, not experimental. Global rollout means global investment.
Gemini Omni in Google Vids
Google also expanded Gemini Omni access in Google Vids, its AI video creation tool. Users now have direct access to Gemini Omni within Vids, enabling higher-quality video generation and more sophisticated editing suggestions. Combined with Fill with Gemini in Sheets, Workspace is becoming a more coherent AI ecosystem.
Fill with Gemini removes a barrier: you no longer need to be a data expert to process data fast.
FYI
Does Fill with Gemini work offline?
No. Gemini features in Workspace require a live internet connection. If you’re working offline, you’ll need to wait until you reconnect. The AI processing happens in Google’s cloud.
