Google unveiled the Googlebook in May 2026, a laptop designed from the ground up for Gemini Intelligence. The device represents a departure from traditional laptop design, reimagining how users interact with AI-powered computing.

The Googlebook features an innovative interface called Magic Pointer, which provides contextual suggestions and recommendations as users work. The pointer understands the task at hand and surfaces relevant information, tools, and actions without requiring explicit searches or menu navigation. Custom widgets help users organize tasks, manage projects, and access frequently needed tools.
Powered by Google’s latest processors and optimized for Gemini Intelligence, the Googlebook runs ChromeOS with tight integration to Google’s AI ecosystem. The device syncs seamlessly with Google Drive, Gmail, Docs, and other productivity tools while leveraging Gemini’s reasoning capabilities for document analysis, email composition, and project planning.
The hardware emphasizes lightweight portability without sacrificing performance. A high-resolution display supports advanced color accuracy for creative work, while a full-size keyboard and responsive trackpad maintain familiar input methods. Battery endurance reaches a full working day of continuous use.
Google positioned the Googlebook as an alternative to traditional laptops and Chromebooks. By embedding AI capabilities directly into the operating system and hardware, the Googlebook enables workflows that weren’t possible before—users can ask the device to perform complex tasks that would normally require multiple applications and manual steps.
The device targets knowledge workers, students, and creative professionals who spend significant time in Google’s ecosystem. Pricing and availability were announced for late 2026 launch.
