Rockstar Games is preparing a new “Extended Look” promotional event for Grand Theft Auto VI later this month, a marketing push the company is using to reinforce its November 19 release date even as delay speculation continues to circulate online.

The game has already slipped twice. Grand Theft Auto VI was originally targeted for a 2025 launch before Rockstar pushed it to May 2026, then delayed it again to November 19, 2026. Both Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have repeatedly reaffirmed the November date in public statements through the middle of this year, directly pushing back on rumors of a third delay.
Industry watchers see the upcoming Extended Look event as a signal of confidence. Companies rarely commit to major marketing pushes shortly before pulling a release date, and Rockstar’s history suggests it tends to lock dates publicly only once production has reached a stage where further slippage is unlikely.
Not everyone is convinced the date is final. A former Rockstar animator, discussing the project in a recent interview, said another delay “can’t be ruled out,” though he was careful to note he no longer works at the studio and cannot speak to its current production status with certainty. No new delay has been announced by Rockstar or Take-Two as of this week, and November 19 remains the official target.
The stakes around the release are unusually high. Grand Theft Auto V, the franchise’s previous entry, has sold more than 200 million copies since 2013 and remains one of the best-selling entertainment products in history. Pre-orders for GTA VI opened earlier this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with retailers reporting strong early demand despite the game’s higher price point compared with past entries in the series.
For now, fans hoping for a firm confirmation of the release timeline will need to wait for the Extended Look event, which Rockstar has not yet given an exact date for beyond “later this month.”
