iPhone 18 Pro Max reaches 45 hours of video playback in Apple’s rating

By Abul KalamSeptember 11, 20262 Mins Read

Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers up to 45 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro is rated for up to 36 hours. The figures were announced with the new phones on September 9 and reported in MacRumors’ live event coverage.

Apple describes the battery increase as the largest in iPhone history for the Pro Max. The two models use the A20 Pro chip and a redesigned vapor chamber, but the Pro Max also has more physical room for a larger battery. The company presents the result as a product rating, not a promise of identical real-world use.

Apple’s typical-use estimate is lower than the video-playback figure. The company says the iPhone 18 Pro can last up to 24 hours on a charge and the Pro Max up to 30 hours under its typical-use method. That method combines messaging, photography, music, social apps, streaming, gaming, browsing and navigation.

MacRumors reported that wired charging can reach 50 percent in about 15 minutes. Apple also says five minutes of wired charging can add up to six hours of video playback. Charging speed depends on a compatible 60-watt-capable USB-C cable and power adapter, along with the phone’s temperature and battery state.

The phones retain different physical sizes, but Apple says both models are designed for longer sustained use. The A20 Pro is built on a 2-nanometer process and includes a six-core CPU and seven-core GPU, according to the company.

Battery estimates cannot predict every user’s result. High brightness, cellular reception, camera use, gaming and background activity can all change endurance. The ratings are useful for comparing Apple’s models, but they are not a substitute for independent testing.

Preorders begin September 12 and availability begins September 18. Reviewers will be able to test the 36-hour and 45-hour video ratings, charging claims and everyday endurance once retail hardware and final software are available.
