The Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to be part of the company’s September 2026 iPhone event, although Apple has not announced the event date or confirmed the phone’s specifications.
MacRumors reported on Aug. 4 that Apple had begun preparing for a September event and that the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a foldable iPhone were expected to debut. The report said Apple had told retail employees the event would take place in the first half of September.
MacRumors’ Aug. 18 roundup described the iPhone 18 Pro models as expected products rather than officially announced devices. It listed a possible 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip, longer battery life, a smaller Dynamic Island, a C2 modem and a variable-aperture camera among the reported features.
Tom’s Guide also reported on Aug. 18 that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max were expected to receive the A20 Pro chip, a larger battery for the Pro Max and a C2 modem. The publication said those details were based on reports and rumours, not an Apple product announcement.
The Pro Max battery claims remain unconfirmed. Tom’s Guide cited reports suggesting a larger capacity, while MacRumors separately said the Pro Max could gain battery capacity alongside efficiency improvements from a new chip.
Apple’s official iPhone newsroom page, checked on Aug. 20, listed other 2026 updates but did not publish an iPhone 18 Pro Max announcement. The company therefore remains the only source that can confirm the final name, price, specifications and release date.
Until Apple issues an invitation or product release, the September timing and reported features should be treated as expectations. Buyers should wait for the company’s official announcement before relying on the leaked specifications or pricing.
