Apple’s first foldable iPhone, called iPhone Duo, will start at $1,999 in the United States and become available October 23. Apple announced the phone on September 9, and MacRumors reported the preorder date, storage range and launch timing in its follow-up coverage.
Preorders begin October 16. The entry configuration includes 256GB of storage, while Apple offers options up to 2TB. The price places the Duo above Apple’s conventional iPhone Pro models and makes it a premium product aimed at buyers who want a larger foldable display.
Apple says the Duo has a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 5.4-inch outer screen. When unfolded, the company describes it as its thinnest iPhone. The titanium frame, Ceramic Shield protection and IP68 rating are part of the confirmed hardware design.
The foldable phone uses Apple’s A20 Pro chip and a C2 modem. Apple says the chip provides faster CPU and graphics performance than the previous Pro generation, while the modem supports 5G mmWave in the United States and uses less energy than the earlier C1X system.
Other confirmed features include Touch ID in the side button, two rear 48-megapixel cameras and an under-display inner FaceTime camera. Apple also says the phone supports split-screen multitasking and Apple Pencil support will arrive later this year.

The Duo is therefore a new product launch rather than a rumor story.
