The Khalifa movie has reached Indian theatres with Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead, following its scheduled Malayalam release on Aug. 20.

Cinema Express reported that the film, directed by Vysakh, cleared censorship formalities before its release. The publication described it as one of the major Malayalam releases of the Onam season and reported the scheduled Thursday opening.
BookMyShow listed Khalifa as a 2-hour-39-minute Malayalam action crime thriller with a UA16+ certificate. Its listing named Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mohanlal, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Indrans and Sanju Sivaram among the cast.
The story follows a gold-smuggling kingpin who inherits a large criminal operation, according to the BookMyShow synopsis. The listing said the operation stretches from the Middle East to India, while Vysakh is credited as director and Jinu V. Abraham as writer and producer.
The film’s release details are separate from audience response or box-office performance. As the movie opens, ticket availability and showtimes may vary by city and by language or format.
Khalifa is one of several festival-season films reaching cinemas in India this week. Cinema Express and the current BookMyShow listing both identify Aug. 20 as the release date, while the latter provides the current cast, format and certificate information.
