Nothing Phone (4a) Series Launches With Pro Model and Major Upgrades

By Shahriar FahimMarch 6, 20264 Mins Read

The Nothing Phone (4a) series has been officially introduced, bringing two new smartphones to the company’s mid-range lineup. The launch includes the standard Phone (4a) and the higher-end Phone (4a) Pro, both announced on March 5 with improved displays, upgraded cameras, and longer software support.

The series represents the brand’s latest attempt to strengthen its position in the competitive Android market. With pricing starting at £349, the lineup aims to deliver premium-style features while keeping costs lower than most flagship devices.

Design Changes and Hardware Improvements Across the Nothing Phone (4a) Series

The standard Nothing Phone (4a) continues the company’s familiar design language but introduces new color options. Pink and blue variants feature tinted glass, while black and white versions maintain the classic appearance associated with earlier models.

The phone includes a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1224×2720. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, replacing the Panda glass used in the previous generation.

Inside, the device runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor paired with UFS 3.1 storage. The base configuration offers 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, with higher variants reaching 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The device also keeps Nothing’s signature lighting interface. The updated Glyph Bar uses 63 mini-LEDs divided into seven zones. These LEDs show notifications, charging status, and real-time updates from Android 16.

Camera hardware includes a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. An ultrawide camera is also present, along with a 32-megapixel front camera positioned in a display cutout.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro Adds Metal Build and Enhanced Camera System

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro introduces more substantial changes compared with the standard model. It features a metal unibody design measuring 7.95mm thick and includes IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

The rear panel includes a new Glyph Matrix lighting system built with 137 LEDs. These lights support interactive features known as Glyph Toys and provide visual alerts for notifications and system events.

Photography is one of the most noticeable upgrades. The Pro version uses three 50-megapixel cameras on the back, including a Sony LYT700c main sensor, a 3.5x telephoto periscope lens, and an ultrawide camera.

The phone supports 4K Ultra XDR video recording and Dolby Vision capture. Hybrid zoom can reach up to 140x through a combination of optical and digital zoom technology.

The display grows slightly to 6.83 inches and increases refresh rate to 144Hz. The panel is brighter than the standard model and also uses Gorilla Glass 7i for protection.

Processing performance also improves. The device runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, which delivers faster CPU and GPU performance along with stronger AI processing capabilities.

Battery, Software Support, and Availability

Both devices ship with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16. The company confirmed that the phones will receive three years of Android OS updates and six years of security updates.

Each model includes a 5,080mAh battery with 50W wired charging support. Wireless charging is not included in either device.

Pricing for the Nothing Phone (4a) series varies by configuration. The standard Phone (4a) starts at £349, while the Phone (4a) Pro begins at £499.

Pre-orders for the base Phone (4a) opened on March 5, with general availability beginning March 13. The Phone (4a) Pro will open for pre-orders on March 13 and will reach stores on March 27.

The Nothing Phone (4a) series expands the company’s mid-range portfolio with stronger hardware and longer software support. The Pro variant especially signals a push toward more premium capabilities while keeping pricing below flagship territory.
