A blueberry recall affecting Publix’s GreenWise frozen fruit products was expanded to cover all lots because of possible contamination with E. coli O145.

The US Food and Drug Administration said the recall covers GreenWise Organic Frozen Blueberries and Organic Whole Mixed Berries. The products were sold in eight states, and Publix directed stores to stop selling the affected items.
The FDA notice lists the product descriptions and package codes covered by the recall. Customers who have the recalled berries should not eat them and should either throw them away or return them to a Publix store for a refund.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also published an outbreak update related to frozen blueberries. E. coli infections can cause serious illness, so people who develop concerning symptoms after eating a recalled product should seek medical advice.
The recall is limited to the products and lots identified in the official notices. Consumers should check the package information instead of assuming that every frozen berry product is affected.
Stores and customers should rely on the package codes and product descriptions in the FDA notice when checking freezers. That detail helps separate the recalled berries from other frozen fruit sold by the retailer.
