Tata Motors will introduce the Sierra EV in India on Monday, June 30, according to Autocar India, marking the return of the Sierra nameplate as a fully electric SUV after more than two decades away from the market.
The Sierra EV will sit between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV in Tata’s electric vehicle range. It’s built on the acti.ev+ architecture — the same platform that underpins the Harrier EV — and is expected to share that vehicle’s 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options.
Reviving a Name From Indian Automotive History
The original Tata Sierra was produced between 1991 and 1997 and is widely remembered as one of the first monocoque-bodied SUVs manufactured in India. Reviving the Sierra badge as an electric vehicle connects that legacy to Tata’s current position as the country’s most active EV maker.
Tata has built out one of India’s broadest electric lineups, running from the entry-level Tiago EV to the Nexon EV, Curvv EV, and Harrier EV. The Sierra EV extends that range further into the mid-size electric SUV segment, where competition from both domestic and global brands is picking up.
What the Specs Are Expected to Look Like
The Sierra EV is expected to offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. If it follows the Harrier EV’s battery options, buyers will choose between a 65kWh and a 75kWh pack. Pre-launch reports have mentioned real-world range of over 500km, though Tata has not officially confirmed those figures ahead of the June 30 reveal.
Pricing expectations point to a starting figure around Rs 15 lakh ex-showroom, placing it below the Harrier EV and targeting buyers who want Tata’s EV experience in a slightly smaller, more accessible package.
What June 30 Will Actually Tell Us
The debut on June 30 is expected to be a design and specification reveal rather than a full commercial launch with confirmed pricing. Delivery timelines are likely to be announced separately in the weeks following. That’s been the standard approach for Tata’s recent EV reveals before the cars reach showrooms.
The India EV market has seen a sharp acceleration in launches through the first half of 2026, with Tata, Mahindra, and several global brands — including BYD and Kia — all announcing or delivering new electric models in a short window.
Tata’s Sierra EV reveal on June 30 will be the most closely watched domestic EV announcement in India this week.
