More than 1,100 guests are expected at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, for the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, according to a source with knowledge of the event cited by NBC News. The couple announced their engagement in August 2025 and have kept nearly every detail private since.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani publicly acknowledged the event at a press conference, saying the wedding coincides with both July 4 celebrations and the America 250 anniversary. That’s as close to an official confirmation as the couple has offered.
A Venue Designed for Privacy
Madison Square Garden has no windows. It has underground parking that lets guests arrive unseen. Those two facts may explain why the couple chose it.
A permit was filed with New York City to shut down streets around MSG from July 2 through midday July 4. CNN confirmed the filing with multiple city and law enforcement sources. The permit was submitted by an event company known to plan weddings. Cargo trucks have been delivering equipment to the arena since Monday — black equipment cases, lighting rigs, and staging gear.
The guest list of 1,100 includes an intimate July 2 gathering of about 100 people before the main ceremony on July 3. Every invitation is individually watermarked with the guest’s full name, repeated throughout the document. Anyone who leaked it online would be immediately identifiable.
NDAs, Stevie Nicks, and No Official Statement
On top of the watermarked invites, guests received nondisclosure agreements sent alongside the electronic invitations. The security around this wedding has been meticulous.
Stevie Nicks is among the performers reportedly expected at the celebration, according to sources cited by multiple outlets. The couple themselves have not confirmed a date, a venue, or a guest list at any point.
Swift and Kelce went public in 2023 when she began attending Kansas City Chiefs games. Kelce proposed in August 2025, after roughly two years together. Rolling Stone noted that the MSG venue speculation began after the permit surfaced, later confirmed by CNN sources. The building’s seclusion, its scale, and its connection to Swift’s career all make sense of the choice.
A Wedding the City Is Already Preparing For
Mayor Mamdani’s acknowledgment wasn’t accidental. The city is preparing logistics around the MSG venue and the July 4 weekend, which also falls during America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Three major events converging in Manhattan at the same time is not a small thing to manage.
The 1,100 guests have signed their agreements. The equipment is inside. The street closures go into effect Thursday.
Whatever happens inside MSG on Friday, the city has already prepared for it to be the event of the summer.
