AMC’s Interview with the Vampire returns for its third season on June 7 under a new title: The Vampire Lestat. The rebranding reflects a shift in perspective — this season is told from Lestat’s point of view rather than Louis’s. Sam Reid, who has played Lestat across the first two seasons, takes the lead role entirely. The premise is that Lestat, resentful of how Louis portrayed him in the book that gives the franchise its name, starts a band and goes on tour to set the record straight on his own terms.
The season premieres at 9 PM Eastern on AMC and AMC+. Seven episodes are planned, with the finale scheduled for July 19. AMC held a live event at the Beacon Theater in New York City on June 2 — four days before the premiere — featuring Sam Reid performing songs from the season followed by a screening of the first episode.
The critical response to the first season was strong, with reviewers noting that the show found a modern, emotionally grounded version of Anne Rice’s vampire world that the 1994 film with Tom Cruise never quite achieved. The second season maintained that reputation. Variety’s review of Season 3 called it “delicious and malicious,” which sounds about right for a season built around Lestat starting a rock concert tour.
The show is part of AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe, which also includes Mayfair Witches. Both series are available on AMC+ for streaming. Linear viewers can watch on the AMC cable channel on Sunday nights through July.
For viewers who haven’t watched the first two seasons, the rebranding and new title make Season 3 feel like an entry point. The premiere episode at the Beacon was described by attendees as highly entertaining even without full context of the prior seasons.
