Vivo S2 Marks Return of S-Series to India at ₹45,000–₹50,000

Vivo is returning its S-series to India in July 2026 with the Vivo S2, a premium mid-range phone targeting buyers between ₹45,000 and ₹50,000. The S-series has been absent from India for seven years, and this comeback focuses on design, camera performance, and battery life.

Display and Design

The S2 features a 6.72-inch curved AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution and 5,000 nits peak brightness. The 120Hz refresh rate handles scrolling smoothly across social media and games. The curved edges and premium finish signal Vivo’s positioning in the upper-mid segment rather than the budget category.

Camera and Battery

A 50MP main camera pairs with standard ultrawide and macro lenses. Vivo touts the S2 as selfie-centric—the design emphasizes front-camera performance for content creators and vlogging enthusiasts. A 7,000mAh battery, large by mid-range standards, delivers all-day endurance without requiring a midday charge.

Performance

The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor handles everyday tasks and moderate gaming. Eight gigabytes of RAM handle multitasking. The phone ships with FunTouch OS based on Android 16, Vivo’s custom skin layered atop Google’s OS.

Why Now?

Vivo’s S-series was pitched at fashion-conscious users who wanted premium design without paying flagship prices. Seven years is a long absence. The relaunch signals Vivo believes that market segment still exists and that the company can recapture it with updated hardware.

Vivo’s return to the S-series is a bet that premium mid-range buyers have grown tired of waiting and are ready to choose again.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)

Why is the S-series designed for selfies?

Vivo has positioned the S-series around content creation and social media sharing from day one. The front camera gets premium treatment, and software includes creator-friendly modes. Users who film Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts gravitate toward S-series phones.
