Xiaomi has expanded its smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5, a device that places a strong focus on battery life, performance, and durability. The new model joins the company’s Turbo series with a combination of flagship-style hardware and a large battery that stands out even in today’s competitive smartphone market.
At the front, the Redmi Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the panel uses M10 luminescent material and can reach a peak brightness of 3500 nits. Support for Dolby Vision, high-frequency PWM dimming, and DC dimming is also included. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
The phone is the first in India to use the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor built on a 4nm process. Xiaomi claims the chipset can deliver an AnTuTu score of more than two million. The device is paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, while a 5300mm² vapor chamber cooling system is designed to manage heat during intensive workloads.
Running Android 16 with HyperOS 3 out of the box, the Redmi Turbo 5 is set to receive four years of Android version updates and six years of security patches. That support window places it among the longer-supported Android smartphones currently available in its segment.
The design combines a metal frame with a glass back panel. Xiaomi has also added RGB lighting around the rear camera module, branded as the Redmi Pixel Matrix. The handset carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, offering protection against challenging environmental conditions.
Photography duties are handled by a dual rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor with optical image stabilization. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera accompanies the main sensor, while a 20-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls. The rear camera supports video recording at up to 4K 60fps.
One of the biggest talking points is the battery. Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Turbo 5 with a 7540mAh typical battery, while also highlighting a 7560mAh built-in capacity figure. The phone supports 100W wired fast charging and 27W wired reverse charging. It is also compatible with the 100W PPS charging standard.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is available in Asphalt Black, Nitro Blue, and Turbo White. Pricing starts at Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version, while the 12GB and 256GB model is priced at Rs. 40,999. Sales begin on June 19 through Amazon India, Xiaomi’s online store, and offline retail outlets. Launch offers include up to Rs. 2,000 instant discounts on select bank cards, no-cost EMI options for up to nine months, and an assured buyback value of up to 60 percent.
For buyers comparing new premium mid-range phones this year, battery size, long software support, and strong durability ratings are likely to be among the Redmi Turbo 5’s biggest selling points once it reaches store shelves.
