Anthbot has unveiled its R7 Series robot mower with an EdgeEase side arm designed to reach grass along lawn borders. The company presented the machine at IFA 2026 as an attempt to address the strip of grass that many robot mowers leave beside walls and paving.

The R7 combines the trimming arm with navigation and obstacle detection. Anthbot says the mower uses LiDAR, cameras and an AI vision system to map the working area. TechRadar saw the product demonstrated at the show, but a demonstration is not a substitute for a long-term garden test.

The EdgeEase arm is the main change in the announcement. It is intended to move the cutting path closer to an edge instead of stopping at the main mower body. The company has not provided independent measurements showing how much uncut grass the arm removes across different borders or ground conditions.

Anthbot lists six-motor all-wheel drive and the ability to handle slopes of up to 40 degrees. It also says the mower can cross obstacles up to 6 centimeters high. Those limits depend on the surface, moisture, tire grip, grass condition and the way the machine is configured.

The R7 Series uses HoloSense dual LiDAR and PPP-RTK positioning, according to Anthbot. The system is designed to help the mower keep its position and plan a route. Satellite corrections and local conditions can affect positioning, so the company still recommends checking the operating area before use.

Safety features are another focus of the product announcement. Anthbot says the mower can use infrared sensing and cameras to detect animals, including hedgehogs. That claim will need independent testing because small animals can be difficult to detect in tall grass, shadows and changing weather.

The battery is listed at 270Wh and 36V, with a claimed working capacity of up to 4,000 square meters per day and a fast-charge time of about 60 minutes. These figures are manufacturer ratings. Cutting height, terrain, rain, route planning and charging interruptions will affect real output.

The R7 is an announced robot mower, not a product reviewed for every garden type. Anthbot and TechRadar have confirmed the EdgeEase concept and the main navigation features, but the sources reviewed do not establish final pricing or availability for every country. Buyers should wait for local safety, service and warranty details.
