The Bangladesh Bank cashless payment loan pilot will let eligible customers cover selected digital payments with short-term credit of up to Tk10,000. The central bank describes the product as an e-Payment Credit facility that uses a fee instead of interest during the pilot period.

The facility is designed for payments rather than cash access. Approved uses include utility bills, mobile recharges, education and health-care payments, tolls, tickets, taxes, government payments, deposit installments and insurance premiums.
The permitted amount starts at Tk50 and ends at Tk10,000. Customers can choose a seven-, 15- or 30-day tenure under the pilot, with the principal and the disclosed fee due at the end of the selected period.
Bangladesh Bank’s schedule gives an example of the maximum fee for larger transactions. A Tk7,001-to-Tk10,000 facility can carry up to Tk35 for seven days, Tk70 for 15 days or Tk130 for 30 days, according to the published instructions.
The system cannot be used to turn the facility into cash. The circular bars cash conversion, transfers, wallet loading and similar movement of the credit away from the approved payment purpose.
The rules also place limits on penalties and require customers to receive clear information about the amount, fee, due date and consequences of late payment. Banks and payment providers must use risk-based credit scoring and maintain records under the pilot framework.
Security is part of the operating design. The central bank requires safeguards such as one-time passwords, two-factor or multi-factor authentication, local data handling and controls intended to detect misuse.
Bangladesh Bank said the product will run for six months before a commercial launch is considered. The pilot gives banks a way to test demand, repayment behavior and fraud controls, but it does not promise that every customer will qualify or that the service will remain unchanged.
Customers should read the fee and repayment notice shown by their bank or payment provider before accepting credit. The service is a limited digital-payment facility, not a general personal loan and not a route for withdrawing money from a wallet.
