Minisforum unveils two local AI systems with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495

By Aminul Islam NadimSeptember 8, 20262 Mins Read

Minisforum has announced two local AI computing systems built around AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor. The MS-S1 MAX-P495 workstation and the AI Agent NAS N5 MAX-P495 were shown at IFA 2026 as machines intended to run selected AI workloads near the user.

The announcement was made on September 4. Minisforum says the systems are aimed at local inference, AI development, computer vision and generative AI work. The company has not published final pricing or a complete availability schedule in the sources reviewed.

The Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 platform is listed with up to 131 trillion operations per second for AI processing. Minisforum also says the systems can use up to 192GB of unified memory, with as much as 160GB available for graphics workloads. These are platform and configuration limits, not a promise for every retail unit.

The AI Agent NAS N5 MAX-P495 is designed to combine storage and local computing. Minisforum lists capacity of up to 200TB for the system. A NAS can be useful for central file access, but local AI speed will still depend on drive layout, memory configuration, model size and the software used.

Minisforum says the N5 can support agent software such as OpenClaw and Hermes. The announcement presents those tools as part of a local workflow. It does not independently measure their accuracy, privacy behavior or ability to complete tasks without supervision.

The MS-S1 MAX-P495 is positioned as a small workstation rather than a storage-first device. Minisforum says it is meant for local model inference, AI development, computer vision and generative AI. Four units can fit into a 2U rack according to the company, which may interest labs or teams testing several local workloads.

Running a model on local hardware can reduce the need to send data to a remote service, but it does not automatically remove every privacy risk. Administrators still need to secure the operating system, storage, network access, model files and any external API connection.

Tom’s Hardware reported on the systems from IFA and confirmed the processor focus in its event coverage. The current news is an announcement of two configurable local AI machines. Readers should wait for final specifications, prices, regional support and independent testing before comparing them with established workstations or NAS products.
