Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen have revealed the name of their baby daughter: Harper Haize Allen. The actress shared the news on Friday, June 19, through a personal letter published in her Substack newsletter, Beau Society, addressed directly to her daughter.

Steinfeld and Allen, the Buffalo Bills quarterback, welcomed their first child together in April 2026. They kept the baby’s name private for nearly two months before Steinfeld chose to share it through writing rather than a social media photo. The letter described what she hopes for her daughter and the meaning behind the name.
The couple married in late 2025 after announcing their engagement earlier that year. Allen and Steinfeld had been together for about two years before their wedding. Their relationship attracted consistent media attention given Allen’s profile as one of the NFL‘s most prominent quarterbacks and Steinfeld’s career as both an actress and recording artist.
The name Harper has become one of the more popular baby names in English-speaking countries over the last decade. Haize — the middle name — appears to be a personal or family choice. Steinfeld did not explain the origin of the middle name in the published letter, but described it as something that felt right for her daughter from the beginning.
Steinfeld is known for her roles in Pitch Perfect 2, Bumblebee, and the Apple TV+ series Dickinson, for which she received widespread critical praise. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for her debut role in True Grit at age 14. Allen won his first Super Bowl ring with the Bills in February 2026 and is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks in football.
The announcement drew an immediate response from fans of both figures. The name quickly trended on social media in the United States and United Kingdom within hours of the newsletter going live. Toy Story 5 topped the weekend box office at the same time, making it a big entertainment weekend overall.
The couple have been selective about what they share regarding their daughter, with no photos of the baby released publicly. Steinfeld’s decision to use a Substack letter — rather than a traditional Instagram post — was consistent with her more considered approach to public disclosures in recent years. Celebrity news dominated this week, with several major announcements landing within a short window.
Allen is currently in the NFL offseason. The Bills open preseason play in August. Steinfeld has not announced any upcoming film or television projects for the rest of 2026. Harper Haize Allen’s arrival earlier this spring marked a major personal milestone for both. House of the Dragon Season 3 also premiered this weekend, capping a busy stretch for entertainment news.
