Samsung has started rolling out the stable version of One UI 8.5 to the Galaxy S24 lineup, marking the first major software expansion of the companyâs latest interface beyond the Galaxy S26 series where it debuted earlier this year.

The rollout officially began on May 6 in South Korea, with the update reaching users of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung said the release will continue expanding gradually across additional markets in the coming days, including India, Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
The software arrives after several months of public beta testing. Samsung initially opened the One UI 8.5 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25 series before extending testing access to the Galaxy S24 family in March.
Unlike smaller security or maintenance updates, One UI 8.5 introduces a broader set of changes tied to Samsungâs growing Galaxy AI platform. Several AI-focused tools first introduced with the Galaxy S26 lineup are now being brought to older flagship devices through the update.
Among the additions are upgraded Bixby features, AI-powered call screening, and live voicemail transcription. Samsung has also updated its Photo Assist tools while refining cross-device functionality through Quick Share and My Files integration.
The company said it has made further adjustments to system animations and interface responsiveness. Battery optimization improvements are also included as part of the release.
For users already enrolled in the beta program, the stable DZDP build is expected to download as a smaller patch-sized update. Devices upgrading directly from One UI 8.0, however, will receive a larger over-the-air package because of the broader system changes included in the release.
Samsung continues to distribute firmware in phases, meaning update availability may differ depending on region and carrier approval timelines. Users can manually check for the update through the Settings app under Software update and then Download and install.

The rollout places Samsungâs 2024 flagship lineup among the first older Galaxy devices to receive the companyâs latest AI-focused software features outside the Galaxy S26 series, as Samsung continues widening support for its newer platform tools across previous-generation hardware.
