Samsung has finalized its rollout schedule for the official One UI 8.5 update, with South Korea receiving the first release on May 6 before the software begins expanding into global markets from May 11.

The company is moving quickly this cycle, compressing the early rollout into a relatively short window across Europe, India, North America and Southeast Asia. The first phase focuses almost entirely on Samsung’s newest premium devices, continuing a pattern the company has followed in recent years when introducing major One UI revisions.
At the front of the queue is the Galaxy S25 lineup, including the standard Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, S25 Edge, S25 Ultra and S25 FE models. Samsung’s latest foldables are also part of the opening wave, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Flip7 FE and the Galaxy Z TriFold all scheduled to receive the update early.
The rollout strategy places Samsung’s 2025 flagship hardware at the center of the release. Beyond serving as the first public deployment, those devices are also likely being used as the company’s initial stability benchmark before broader expansion reaches older Galaxy models.
The next stage moves into Samsung’s recent flagship portfolio. The Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy S24 FE are included in the early expansion, alongside last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 devices, which are expected to transition from the Beta phase into the stable release.
Samsung is also extending the update quickly across its premium tablet lineup. The Galaxy Tab S11, Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra are all part of the first rollout phase, reflecting the company’s effort to keep its higher-end tablets aligned with flagship smartphones on software support timing.
For older Galaxy flagships, Samsung has not provided precise release dates. That usually points to a staggered approach shaped by regional deployment schedules and carrier certification processes, which often vary from market to market.
The first confirmed wave currently includes the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z TriFold, Galaxy S24 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the latest Galaxy Tab S-series tablets.

Samsung’s rollout pace suggests the company is aiming for a fast transition into One UI 8.5 across its premium ecosystem. Over the coming weeks, attention will likely shift from rollout speed to how consistently the update performs as it reaches more regions and devices.
