JLR has opened Range Rover Electric India bookings, bringing the brand’s first fully electric Range Rover into the country’s premium SUV market. Autocar India reports a claimed range of up to 600 kilometers for the Indian booking announcement. The figure is a claim and may depend on the test standard and final configuration.

JLR’s official media material describes the electric SUV with two 260-kilowatt motors, up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque. It lists a 118.5kWh battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture. The global material says the vehicle can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes under the right conditions.
Those figures place fast charging at the center of the product. An 800-volt system can reduce charging time when the vehicle and charger both support the required power. Actual time will vary with the charger, battery temperature, state of charge and local electrical supply.
The official range figure for the wider market is listed as up to 372 miles under the WLTP cycle. Autocar India’s report converts the Indian booking claim to about 600 kilometers. WLTP and local test figures should not be compared as though they were identical measurements.
JLR also says the SUV can wade through water up to 900 millimeters. That capability fits the Range Rover identity, but a rating does not mean every water crossing is safe. Drivers still need to consider depth, current, road condition and the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
The vehicle uses a twin-motor layout, which can provide all-wheel drive and independent control of the front and rear axles. That is useful for traction and control, but it also adds weight and complexity. Real-world efficiency will depend on speed, tires, weather and the load carried by the SUV.
Opening bookings is not the same as announcing customer deliveries. JLR has not been reported as confirming a final Indian price in the sources reviewed for this story. Buyers should ask dealers about the booking amount, warranty, charging equipment, delivery schedule and service coverage.
The electric Range Rover will compete on comfort, capability and brand value as much as on battery range. A large battery can support long trips, while the charging network determines how easy those trips are. Home charging remains important for owners who want predictable daily use.
JLR’s official media page supports the motor, battery, charging and wading claims. Autocar India provides the Indian booking context. Customers should wait for the final India specification and official price before treating the reported range or delivery expectations as settled.
