ZOOMBANGLA DESK: Eminent actor and  Ekushey Padak -2015 Winner, Abu Taher Mohammad Shamsuzzaman,popularly known as ATM Shamsuzzaman, passed away at his own residence at city’s Sutrapur area early this morning.

He was 80. The veteran actor was suffering from old-age complications for a long time, family sources said.

Earlier, on February 17, he was admitted to a city hospital due to breathing difficulty. He returned home from the hospital on Friday.

According to family sources, his first namaj-e-janaza will be held after Zohr Prayers.

Born on 10 September, 1941 in Noakhali’s Daulatpur, ATM Shamsuzzaman made his debut in the media as an assistant director in 1961, with the film ‘Bishkonya’.

The actor, director and screen-playwright were awarded with prestigious Bangladesh National Film award five times for his outstanding performance.
