Vivo has expanded its Y-series portfolio in China with the introduction of the Vivo Y600 Pro, a device that places unusual emphasis on battery capacity in the midrange segment. The phone arrives with a 10,200mAh battery, marking a notable step up from earlier models in the same line and reflecting a broader push toward longer-lasting smartphones.

The jump is significant when seen against its immediate predecessors. The Y400 Pro, launched in India last June, carried a 5,500mAh battery, while the Y500 Pro later moved to 7,000mAh but did not reach the Indian market. In two iterations, Vivo has nearly doubled capacity without a corresponding increase in bulk. The company says the Y600 Pro measures 8.25 mm in thickness, only marginally thicker than the previous model.
Vivo is using a fourth-generation silicon-carbon battery with 15 percent silicon content, claiming an energy density of 886Wh/L. The company positions this as the enabling factor behind fitting a larger cell into a relatively slim frame. It also states that the battery can retain 80 percent of its health after around 1,600 charge cycles, a figure that exceeds typical claims made by most smartphone brands.
The device supports 90W fast charging and reverse wired charging. Vivoâs internal estimates suggest more than 24 hours of usage under mixed conditions, including up to 47 hours of voice calls and 28 hours of video playback, though real-world performance will depend on usage patterns.
Beyond battery life, the hardware remains largely in line with midrange expectations. The Y600 Pro features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chipset, which leans toward efficiency rather than high-end graphics performance.
The camera setup is straightforward, with a 50MP main sensor equipped with optical image stabilisation and a secondary IR blaster module. On the front, there is a 32MP camera. The phone also includes an in-display fingerprint sensor and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. It runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.
In China, pricing starts at CNY 1,999 for the 8GB and 128GB variant, while the top-end 12GB and 512GB version is priced at CNY 2,899. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from April 30.
There is no official word yet on an India launch. The Y400 Pro arrived in India around mid-year in 2024, and a similar timeline could be possible if Vivo follows its usual release cycle. Pricing, if it arrives, would likely sit in a comparable range, adjusted for the larger battery and updated chipset.
The Y600 Pro enters a segment where most devices still operate within the 6,000mAh range, with only a few stretching toward 7,000mAh. Some competing models, such as those in Realmeâs Power series, have begun approaching similar capacities, and reports indicate that other manufacturers are exploring 10,000mAh batteries across different price brackets.

For now, Vivoâs latest release stands out primarily for endurance. It is a phone built with a clear priority, aimed at users who value extended battery life over other aspects of smartphone performance.
