Simple Wave puts storage and battery choice ahead of outright scooter performance

By Saleh MohammadSeptember 7, 20263 Mins Read

Simple Energy’s Wave takes a different route from the company’s performance-focused One range. The family electric scooter is built around daily utility, with four battery choices, a long seat and up to 70 litres of storage. The launch gives Indian buyers a new way to choose an electric scooter based on space and charging needs rather than headline acceleration alone.

Wave

Simple Energy launched the Wave in Bengaluru on September 2, and Autocar Professional reviewed the model and the company’s early sales position on September 5. Autocar India and the manufacturer’s product page provide the launch specifications. Prices start at ₹1,09,999 ex-showroom in Bengaluru, while deliveries are scheduled to begin on September 25, 2026.

The range begins with the Wave S, which can be specified with a 2.2kWh or 2.7kWh battery. Simple quotes IDC ranges of 110km and 132km for those versions. The regular Wave uses a 3.7kWh pack and carries a claimed 171km IDC range. At the top, the Wave+ pairs a 5kWh battery with a claimed 243km IDC range.

Those numbers are Indian Driving Cycle claims, not a promise of the same distance on every ride. Speed, passenger weight, road surface, temperature, tyre pressure and traffic can change energy use. The range spread is still useful because it lets a buyer match the scooter to a commute instead of paying for the largest battery by default.

Practicality is the central design decision. The scooter has a 920mm seat and storage rated at up to 70 litres. That total includes a 63-litre under-seat compartment, a 3-litre front cubby and a 4-litre side pocket that Simple calls Pill Storage. The company says the layout is aimed at shared family use, where carrying space can matter as much as motor output.

The Wave uses an updated version of the One platform but changes the hardware to suit that brief. It has twin rear shock absorbers rather than the One’s monoshock, a lower 775mm seat height and 175mm of ground clearance. The braking system combines a front disc with a rear drum and includes combined braking, while higher versions add more rider-assistance equipment.

Simple’s product page lists a 6.4kW motor for the Wave+ and Wave, with a claimed 90km/h top speed. The Wave S is listed at up to 75km/h. The company also highlights a third-generation motor and battery-management system, along with a motor that is smaller than the unit used in the One range. These are manufacturer specifications and should be checked against the final variant sold by a dealer.

Connected features are part of the higher-tech versions. The 7-inch display supports navigation, call controls and smartphone functions, while the scooter can provide location sharing, geofencing and over-the-air updates. Simple also lists hill hold, reverse, Crawl and Limp Home modes. Availability can vary by trim, so the feature list should not be treated as identical across the six configurations.

The Wave arrives as Simple Energy tries to move beyond a niche performance position. Autocar Professional reported 10,429 retail deliveries for the One and One S Gen 2 between January and August 2026, citing Vahan data. The Wave’s test will be whether its space, battery choice and family-focused hardware can bring the brand into a wider part of India’s electric two-wheeler market. Buyers should confirm the local price, variant equipment, delivery timing and service coverage before booking.
