More than half a million people who placed deposits for the Trump Mobile T1 smartphone are still waiting for a device that was promoted nearly a year ago as an American-made alternative to dominant brands in the mobile market.

The T1 phone was introduced on June 16, 2025, by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump as the flagship product of Trump Mobile. The launch date coincided with the 10th anniversary of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign announcement, tying the product closely to the Trump political brand and its appeal to supporters seeking domestically branded consumer products.
The smartphone was marketed as a gold-colored device featuring an American flag and carrying a retail price of $499. Trump Mobile positioned the T1 as a competitor to phones made by Apple and Samsung, while emphasizing that the device would be “Made in the USA.”
Since the announcement, an estimated 590,000 customers have paid deposits of $100 each to reserve a phone. Collectively, those deposits amount to roughly $59 million.
One year after the launch announcement, however, the phones do not appear to have been manufactured or delivered to customers. No additional details about production, shipping timelines, or device availability were provided in the information released alongside the estimates of customer deposits.
The situation leaves buyers in an unusual position. Many customers committed money upfront for a product marketed around domestic manufacturing and national branding, but there is still no public indication that the phones entered production.
The T1 announcement drew attention at the time because it attempted to enter a highly competitive smartphone market dominated by long-established global manufacturers. Trump Mobile framed the phone not only as a technology product, but also as a symbolic alternative tied to American manufacturing claims and political identity.
The estimated scale of the deposits suggests substantial consumer interest following the launch. At the same time, the absence of delivered devices after a year raises broader questions about the status of the project and whether buyers will ultimately receive the phones they reserved.

For now, customers who placed deposits remain waiting as the T1 phone continues to exist largely as a promise attached to one of the most recognizable political family brands in the United States.
