Vivo has introduced its latest Y-series smartphone in China, bringing a mix of durability features and a notably large battery to the mid-range segment. The Vivo Y6 5G arrives at a time when manufacturers are placing greater emphasis on endurance and everyday reliability, and the device reflects that shift in priorities.

The phone enters the market with a starting price of CNY 1,799, roughly equivalent to Rs. 24,000, for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Two higher configurations follow, priced at CNY 1,999 and CNY 2,199, offering up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Buyers in China can choose between three finishes, marketed as Galaxy Silver, Obsidian Black and Phoenix Welcomes Gold.
On the hardware front, the device is built around a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage extends to 256GB using UFS 3.1 technology. The combination suggests a focus on stable, everyday performance rather than pushing into flagship territory.
The display measures 6.75 inches and uses an HD+ LCD panel with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Peak brightness is rated at 1200 nits, while the screen-to-body ratio is listed at just over 90 percent. Vivo has opted for a practical approach here, prioritising visibility and smooth scrolling over higher resolution.
Camera hardware remains straightforward. A 50-megapixel rear sensor handles primary photography duties, supported by common shooting modes such as portrait and night scene. On the front, an 8-megapixel camera is available for selfies and video calls.
Where the device stands out more clearly is battery capacity. Vivo has equipped the Y6 5G with a 7,200mAh battery, paired with 44W wired charging. The company claims extended usage times, including over 15 hours of navigation and more than 39 hours of calling on a single charge.
Durability is another area of emphasis. The handset carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, alongside a certification for drop and shock resistance. Biometric security is handled through a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, with face recognition also supported.
The phone runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6 layered on top and includes standard connectivity features such as 5G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and multiple global navigation systems.
Physically, the device weighs 219 grams and measures 8.39mm in thickness. Those figures reflect the large battery inside, which remains a defining element of this release.
