AppleCare One Family now covers up to six people for $49.99 a month

By Saiful IslamSeptember 15, 20262 Mins Read

AppleCare One Family is now available in the United States, giving families a single subscription for eligible Apple devices owned by as many as six people. Apple lists the price at $49.99 a month, with the plan tied to an Apple Family Sharing group.

AppleCare One Family

The family plan carries the main protections associated with AppleCare+. That includes coverage for accidental damage, battery service and priority support from Apple experts. Theft and loss protection applies to eligible iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch models, but the claim limit is shared. Apple allows up to six theft or loss claims per year across the entire family, not six claims for every member.

Apple says devices already covered by AppleCare when a family signs up, along with devices purchased less than 60 days earlier, can be enrolled automatically during setup. Other eligible products may be added if they are within the stated age limits and in good working condition. The normal limit is four years for most devices, while AirPods and Beats headphones have a one-year limit. Some products may need a device check before they are accepted.

The plan is broad in device coverage. Apple lists iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple TV, HomePod, Vision Pro and Apple Studio Display among the product groups that can qualify. The company says there is no broad device-count cap, although a family can cover no more than six Vision Pro headsets.

Family Sharing is central to the service. Devices must remain signed in to an Apple Account belonging to someone in the family group. If a device is signed out and another account outside that group is used, coverage ends for that device. Apple also says covered products must check in with its servers at least once every 12 months.

AppleCare One Family is different from the existing AppleCare One subscription. The individual plan starts at $19.99 a month for three products and charges $5.99 for each additional device. The family plan uses a higher fixed price and expands the people covered, while keeping the six-claim theft and loss pool for the group.

For now, AppleCare One Family is limited to the U.S. Apple has not announced the same family tier for other markets. Customers can review eligibility, service fees and exclusions on Apple’s AppleCare pages before enrolling.
