Denza plans Z9 GT and D9 electric launches in India by end-2026

By Saleh MohammadSeptember 15, 20262 Mins Read

BYD’s premium Denza brand is preparing an India entry with two electric models, according to a September 14 report from Autocar Professional. The Z9 GT fastback and D9 luxury MPV are expected to arrive by the end of 2026, with both vehicles imported as completely built-up units.

The reported plan would place Denza above BYD’s existing India range. Autocar says Denza products are expected to target the premium end of the market, at around ₹80 lakh and above. That is a reported positioning guide, not a final price list. The company has not yet published India launch prices or booking details for the two vehicles.

The Z9 GT is the technology showcase of the proposed lineup. The India version is reported to use a fully electric, three-motor powertrain with one motor at the front and two at the rear. Autocar lists a combined output of 1,156 horsepower, a claimed 0-to-100kph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 270kph. It also reports a 122.5kWh Blade battery and a claimed 600km WLTP range.

Charging is another part of the Z9 GT story. Autocar says the vehicle will support BYD’s 1,500kW Flash charging system, with a company claim that the battery can move from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. BYD’s global Denza announcement confirms that the brand’s overseas models use Flash Charging technology and identifies the Z9 GT as one of its first global models.

The D9 takes a different approach. It is a luxury MPV with a front-wheel-drive electric setup reported for India. Autocar lists 313 horsepower, 360Nm of torque, a 103kWh Blade battery and a claimed 520km WLTP range; DC charging is reported at up to 200kW. Its 2+2+3 cabin layout is aimed at buyers who value second-row captain’s chairs and long-distance comfort.

Independent coverage from Auto India Daily also describes the two-model India plan and the different roles of the vehicles. The Z9 GT would carry the performance and software-led technology message, while the D9 would compete for attention in the premium MPV market.

The launch timing, final specifications, prices and retail network still depend on BYD’s formal India announcement. Until then, the Z9 GT and D9 should be described as reported plans rather than available products.
