Samsung has a July 22, 2026 Unpacked event confirmed, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 are expected to headline the wearables portion of the announcement alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 foldables.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, a notable shift from the Exynos W chip in the previous generation. Snapdragon Wear Elite is designed for performance-intensive wearable workloads including real-time health monitoring, fitness tracking, and on-device AI without draining the battery rapidly.
Leaked details suggest the Watch Ultra 2 retains the square titanium casing that distinguished the original Ultra from the rounded designs dominating the category. Display quality improvements and a redesigned sensor layout for more precise health tracking are also expected, though Samsung has not confirmed specifications.
The Galaxy Watch 9 targets the mainstream market and is expected to follow a similar design language to the Watch 8 while benefiting from the same chip upgrade. Samsung’s Watch lineup has expanded health capabilities each generation, with blood pressure monitoring and continuous ECG readings among the features expected to be refined further.
The smartwatch market is heating up heading into the second half of 2026. Apple’s Watch Series 12 is expected in September, and Google’s Pixel Watch 4 is also in the pipeline. Samsung’s move to Snapdragon Wear Elite is a direct response to performance expectations set by Apple Watch Silicon and Qualcomm’s growing footprint in Android wearables.
Smartwatch Insight first reported the July 22 date and the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip detail. Samsung’s official event confirmation is expected within the coming weeks. The July date gives Samsung a two-month window to capture buyers before the Apple Watch refresh arrives in September.
